Even though Microsft has finally acquired Activision Blizzard for $ 68.7 billion, Microsoft and Xbox continue to be in the limelight after Microsoft started blocking 'unauthorised' Xbox accessories. Recently, players using Xbox accessories from unauthorised manufacturers on their Xbox consoles started facing 'Error 0x82d60002', saying 'A connected accessory is not authorised' while connecting them. After Xbox started blocking the non-licensed manufacturers, fans showed concern over the internet. Responding to the circumstances, Microsoft said they decided to ensure quality and secure gaming experience for their user.
With users facing issues with their accessories, prevalent manufacturer Brook Gaming stated that their 'Xbox console-related products may encounter functional disruptions in the near future.' Their affected products include Wingman XB 2 converter and XB Fighting Board, which is the consequence of Xbox policy change for third-party accessories.

What Does Error 0x82d60002 By Microsoft On Xbox Consoles Mean
Upon connecting third-party accessories on Xbox consoles, players encounter Error 0x82d60002. The message reads:
Using unauthorised accessories compromises your gaming experience. For this reason, the unauthorised accessory will be blocked from use on 12/11/2023. For help returning it, check with the store it came from or contact the manufacturer.
If a player encounters error 0x82d60002 on their Xbox Consoles, it means that Xbox does not officially license either of the accessories connected to the console. After experiencing the error 0x82d60002, players will have a two-week grace period to use it, after which Xbox will block them, showing the error code Error 0x82d60003.
Even though Microsoft claims to meet 'quality standards for performance, security and safety', Windows Central sources say that Microsoft plans to expand its third-party program to bring more third-party wireless Xbox controllers. Eliminating the use of unauthorised wireless controllers will help licensed manufacturers and Xbox sell more products.
A Microsoft spokesperson shared the thought process behind the new policy with Windows Central, stating:
"Microsoft and other licensed Xbox hardware partners' accessories are designed and manufactured with quality standards for performance, security, and safety. Unauthorized accessories can compromise the gaming experience on Xbox consoles (Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S.) Players may receive a pop-up warning that their accessory is unauthorized. Eventually, the unauthorized accessory will be blocked from use to preserve the console gaming experience.

After 12 November 2023, players will not be able to use their unlicensed Xbox accessories, like gamepads and headsets, on their consoles. Gamers must find an officially licensed alternative to continue playing games on Xbox consoles.
