After days of Valorant Console's beta release, Riot Games has already banned players from using mouse and keyboard on consoles. While games like Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege regularly go through this issue on console, Riot is already taking strict action. The developers will likely share more on the issue after the full launch on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.

The limited beta codes for the Valorant console were made available on June 14, 2024, ever since many players on the platform have attempted to get an easy victory through ill means.

Valorant Console Beta Already Banning Players For Keyboard and Mouse Use

The Valorant console beta is not even a week old and it already has players with keyboard and mouse present on the platform. Naturally, Riot Games did not delay their actions and is already banning such accounts swiftly. It has been a packed week for the Vanguard anti-cheat on the platform as it has become a surprisingly common practice for many cheaters on the console.

Many competitive games, such as Valorant prefer that the players on the console use controllers only, as it encourages a fair competition between gamers. Moreover, using a mouse and keyboard on the console can deliver a colossal amount of unfair advantages to the player, as using the mouse can be mechanically better for aiming and movement. Naturally, players using controllers will have a difficult time playing against cheaters on the mouse and keyboard.

Much like Valorant's PC version, Riot Games is efficiently catching cheaters, even on the console. A recent tweet from a user called @AntiCheatPD on X (ex-Twitter) shared a video of a Valorant match on a console where a game was canceled as the game displayed a message of "Cheater Detected" followed by an explanation stating that the match was terminated due to a cheater present in the lobby.

Moreover, according to GameSpot's report on the matter, the tech lead for Valorant, Marcus Reid, has also confirmed that Vanguard will detect anyone using an 'XIM device' or anything similar on the console.

While titles like Fortnite, Apex Legends, and Call of Duty flawlessly allow players to hop on crossplay as one competes with players from another console, it is a much more difficult mechanic to include in a competitive game like Valorant. Moreover, players also consider it unfair. That being said, Riot could possibly include it for casual modes in the future.
