Capcom has confirmed the dates for the next Open Beta for Street Fighter 6, May 19th to May 21st. The Open Beta will include modes such as Ranked Matches, Battle Hub Matches, Casual Matches, Training Mode, and a whole lot more. The Open Beta will be available on all platforms - Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, and Steam. Crossplay will also be available for the duration of the Open Beta.
To participate, players will need to link their registered Capcom ID with their chosen platform. The game is scheduled to release on June 2, 2023. As one of the most highly-anticipated releases of the year, Street Fighter 6 is one of the most important titles for Capcom as they will be looking to ride the wave of momentum from the Resident Evil 4 Remake.
Capcom Expects Street Fighter 6 To Ship Over 10 Million Units
In a recent interview, Capcom President Haruhiro Tsujimoto, stated that the company expects to sell over 10 million units of Street Fighter 6 when it launches. Even for a franchise as globally renowned and beloved as Street Fighter, hitting the 10 million mark is quite the target. Given that the most successful title in the series, Street Fighter V, has sold 7 million units in its lifetime.
Capcom is probably hoping that the new title makes enough of a splash on launch that it justifies continued investment in the form of post-launch support, expansions, and more.
One of the key areas of focus for the devs with Street Fighter 6 has been to expand the scope of the game, taking it beyond the confines of the fighting genre. This comes in the form of a full-fledged RPG experience that will allow players to explore the social hub called Battle Hub. The Battle Hub will be an explorable area that will allow players to upgrade their characters and finish side quests and such. With that in mind, it is probably not a stretch to expect some form of microtransactions in the game world.
Capcom has been one of the most successful publishers in recent years, riding on the success of massively successful remakes and sequels. The Resident Evil Remakes and Village have provided Capcom with a much needed resurgence after a slump in the 2010s. much-needed
