After testing out features in the PS5 beta, Sony is ready to roll out PlayStation 5 software updates globally. The update will include a few features from PS5 beta testing, new accessibility features and support for compatible Dolby Atmos-enabled devices. Additionally, Sony will add PS Remote Play support for more Android devices.
The latest PS5 software updates will extend support for larger-capacity M.2 SSDs (up to 8TB) with some social feature enhancements.
PlayStation 5 Software Update To Feature Addition Device Support for PS Remote Play, Social Feature Enhancements, Accessibility Features
Based on the beta testing, Sony will roll out the beta features of PS5 beta alongside all the updates. It will include New accessibility features such as Use a Second Controller for Assistance and System UI Haptic Feedback. In the latest update, users can assign a second controller as an assist controller and operate two controllers as a single one. Users will also get an option to turn on haptic feedback effects on their PS5 with DualSense controller, DualSense Edge controller, or PS VR2 Sense controller during the navigation. Sony has upgraded the maximum storage capacity from 4TB to 8TB M.2 SSDs in PS5.
PlayStation 5 will get support for compatible Dolby Atmos-enabled audio devices. With the latest update, users can enjoy 3D Audio powered by Tempest 3D AudioTech on their Dolby Atmos-enabled HDMI devices. Additionally, PS5 receives Social feature enhancements, which include the following features:
- Party UI Update: Players can now send party invitations to groups
- Share Screen Preview: If someone is screen sharing at a party, players can preview the Share Screen before joining
- Game Hub tournament tile: Game Hub will allow players to see their tournament statistics
- React to messages with emojis
One of the newly announced features in the PS5 software update is the introduction of more Android devices for PS Remote Play. From now on, Android TV OS 12 will support PS Remote Play, helping users to stream games from PS5 to the latest Android TV. Sony has also added new voice command options in the latest PS5 software update.
