Dan Houser, the co-founder of Rockstar Games, plans to create an open-world action-adventure game with his new company, Absurd Ventures. In a recent job listing at Absurd Ventures for the role of lead gameplay designer, the company summarises the job role by stating that the designer will lead the team working on an open-world game.

Dan Houser’s Absurd Ventures To Develop An Open World Action-Adventure Game Filled With Combat And Third-Person Action

 

 

While Houser has shared his intentions with Absurd, fans weren’t aware of his next moves. With the job listing on Absurd Ventures Career page, fans now have an idea about an upcoming open world game that is in Absurd’s pipeline. Absurd is actively looking for new recruits, including a suitable candidate for the position of “Lead Gameplay Designer”. The summary for the “Lead Gameplay Designer” gave fans a hint about Absurd’s upcoming video game theme. Here is what the job summary read:

 

Become the primary vision holder and hands-on contributor for character, controls, and camera design in an open world action-adventure game. The person in this role will lead a team of multi-disciplinary specialists to deliver best-in-class combat and third person action across multiple game modes.

Dan Houser’s Absurd Venture is a Santa Monica, California-based studio that was founded in February 2021. Houser left Rockstar Games in March 2020 after an “extended break” in 2019. Houser is Absurd’s producer and creative director and is joined by his Rockstar colleagues Lazlow Jones and Michael Unsworth. Jones and Unsworth worked together at Rockstar Games for years across several popular Rockstar titles.  

 

Houser planned to go big with Absurd Ventures, where he wanted to create new universes across video games, books, graphic novels, scripted podcasts, live-action, and animation. Absurd has already announced the first two universes: American Caper, which will take place in a graphic novel, and A Better Paradise, which will come to life through an audio fiction series.
