Senua’s Sage: Hellblade 2 by Ninja Theory is a highly anticipated sequel to Ninja Theory’s 2017-released Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice. Hellblade 2 is to launch on May 21 2024, and ahead of the launch, Ninja Theory’s Studio Head, Dom Matthews, shared an emotional message with Ninja Theory’s fans. The message talks about Ninja Theory’s commitment to sharing Senua’s story with the fans and crafting a game that makes the audience feel connected to Senua. Dom also mentioned that “Making video games is difficult” and that crafting Hellblade and Senua’s story was a journey.
Apart from Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2, Ninja Theory is also working on an experimental game called Project Mara. It is also said that the game has received the green light from Xbox, which means that there aren’t any plans to shut down the studio.

“Making video games is difficult”, Says Ninja Theory’s Studio Head Dom Matthews Ahead Of The Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2 Launch
Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2 takes place in 10th century Iceland and will continue Senua’s journey from Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice. The game revolves around Senua’s psychosis, and the players go on the psychosis journey with her. Fans loved the story, direction, audio, and almost all aspects of the game and waited eagerly for it.
In his message, Dom shared that he and the developers at the studio are also waiting for the fans to play the 2nd chapter of Senua’s story. Just like the first game, Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2 will take around 7-8 hours to complete the game entirely. While sharing his gratitude over the love Ninja Theory received for Hellblade, Dom said:
We see you and we hear you when you give us such love and support, when you tell us how much Senua means to you, when you tell us how much you are looking forward to the game and how much faith you have in us to continue Senua’s story in a way that does justice to the connection so many of you have to her and to Hellblade.
Dom also talks about their journey as developers in creating a game. He says:
Making video games is difficult. Much like Senua, we as a team have been guided by a conviction to achieve our quest: To make a game that sinks you deep into Senua’s world and to take you on a journey that leaves you thinking and feeling. I believe we have achieved our quest and I hope you’ll agree. I’m very proud of the game, very proud of our team and very proud of you, our fans, who have supported us on this magical journey.
