Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 was just announced at the Xbox summer showcase. The new simulator program is scheduled to arrive next year with some major updates to the aircraft such as hot air balloon trips, aerial firefighting, skydiving etc.

The updates featured in the 2:24-minute trailer make the classic and iconic simulator look pretty swanky. It has been designed for the simulator which was developed for Xbox Series X|S and PC. The trailer starts off quite dramatically with a yellow aircraft flying over what looks like a burning volcano. It then goes on to show some other scenarios like naval cargo transport and agricultural aviation and also some crisis situations.

Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 Features Impressive, Realistic Scenarios

The simulator developed by Asobo also features other adventurous activities like a glider pilot, low-altitude training, airship tours etc. Fans have already commented how the newest outing of the franchise looks a lot more realistic than its predecessors. The series of flight simulator programs for MS-DOS, Classic Mac OS and Microsoft Windows operating systems was one of the earliest products of Microsoft applications. In 2022, Microsoft Flight Simulator became the longest-running software product line for the brand.

The next-gen developments were rolled out in 2020 as Microsoft announced that Flight Simulator for PC will be available in August of that year. Soon after, Microsoft announced standard, deluxe, and premium deluxe versions each boasting individual gameplay features. The Xbox edition was released in July, 2021. Bruce Artwick who founded the product actually released the simulator in 1979 as part of his thesis at the University of Illinois. It took off after he created the gaming company Sublogic in 1977.

The Microsoft Flight Simulator is also reportedly getting a Dune expansion in November and will feature starships from the blockbuster movie. The next generation of Microsoft’s legendary flight simulator, Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024, will be available on Xbox Series S / X and PC next year.
