  • A free-to-play Elden Ring mobile game with microtransactions is reportedly under development, according to various sources online.

  • While not a lot of solid information is available regarding the mobile title, reports claim that Tencent is working on the game.

  • It will reportedly be the newest example of Tencent licensing, turning a major AAA title into a mobile game.

A free-to-play Elden Ring mobile game with microtransactions is reportedly under development, according to various sources online. As FromSoftware fans are waiting for their long-awaited Shadow of the Erdtree for the DLC, the Japanese developers have possibly taken another approach to keep fans busy with a mobile game. While not a lot of solid information is available regarding the mobile title, reports claim that Tencent is working on the game.

It will reportedly be the newest example of Tencent licensing, turning a major AAA title into a mobile game. FromSoftware's Elden Ring garnered a massive fan following after it was first revealed in 2019. After its launch in 2022, the title won the Game of the Year award. After playing Hidetaka Miyazaki's masterful creation, gamers are curious about how the mobile version will turn out.

Elden Ring Mobile Game Possibly Under Development

PC Games Price Hikes

In November 2023, FromSoftware and Miyazaki's team confirmed that the Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree expansion development was proceeding smoothly. However, gamers have been waiting to hear an official release date for the DLC. According to a Reuters report, three people familiar with the matter have mentioned the development of an Elden Ring mobile version.

The company is searching for a refresh for its aging stock of titles. Tencent reportedly acquired the licensing rights for Elden Ring by FromSoftware in 2022 and immediately put people behind the development schedule to work on a prototype. However, the progress has been slow since then.

If the reports are true, Elden Ring will become the first of FromSoftware's titles to receive a free-to-play version in recent history. Alongside the free-to-play version of Miyazaki's original masterpiece, Tencent is also working on mobile versions of a Need for Speed and Assassin's Creed title. Elden Ring was a massive deal for FromSoftware fans as the title combined pretty much every aspect of Soulsborne games, paired with a masterfully co-written story by George R.R Martin, known for writing the Song of Ice and Fire books (A.K.A Game of Thrones). With the game receiving a free-to-play mobile version, gamers are curious about Tencent's approach.

While gamers wait for the Shadow of the Erdtree expansion, a mobile game will not be too bad to keep one busy for more ER content. However, the original creators of Elden Ring have nothing to do with the mobile version's development by Tencent.  The Chinese company has proven itself worthy by making mobile versions of many major games in the past, including Call of Duty: Mobile and PUBG: Mobile. However, Elden Ring will be a completely different project for the studio.

Delta Force: Hawk Ops, the free-to-play tactical FPS and Call of Duty/Battlefield challenger from publisher Tencent is launching for PC as a global open beta on 5th December this year. The Delta Force series was originally developed by NovaLogic and forayed in 1998; it would go on to churn out eight sequels, with a ninth announced but never launched due to NovaLogic’s closure in 2016.

In 2023, Tencent announced it was reviving the series for PC, consoles, and mobile, and Delta Force’s reboot has had several alpha playtests since then. And Delta Force is now ready to move to the next stage. Its global open beta is considered to be its "initial release version," featuring full live-service content updates and no more progress resets.

Where Will Delta Force: Hawk Ops Be Available

Its arrival also marks the start of its first season, Genesis, which is set to introduce new maps and modes both its 32-player Havoc Warfare component and Hazard Operations' squad-based PvPvE.

Tencent’s FAQ page also talks about paid content, which will be available when the open beta goes live, but it insists there’ll be "no pay-to-win elements." In the coming days, new maps, modes, Operators, weapons, and vehicles are all said to be introduced as the open beta progresses, alongside gameplay upgrades, improved performance, bug fixes, better anti-cheat, and controller support.

Delta Force: Hawk Ops will be available through Tencen’t official browser, Steam, and the Epic Games Store when it launches into PC open beta on December 5. PlayStation, Xbox, and mobile releases are all expected at some point in “Q1” 2025.

Delta Force Got 1.4 Million Pre-Registrations

The Delta Force series of tactical shooters seems destined to return to your screens. The series was previously known as 'Delta Force Hawk Ops’ -- and there will be a new game in the franchise. The developers have suggested that over 1.4 million people have pre-registered for Delta Force.

The upcoming game will be a free-to-play multiplayer first-person tactical shooter game.  Delta Force is the first game in the Delta Force series after 2009’s Delta Force Xtreme 2 and is built on Unreal Engine 5. The game is currently under development by team Jade.

The game will be published by TiMi Studios Group. The director of the game codenamed Shadow, announced last week on Steam that they were altering the name of the game from 'Delta Force Hawk Ops' to just 'Delta Force'.

Delta Force comes with three game modes: Hazard Operations, Havoc Warfare, and Black Hawk Down. Speaking of the Operators, players will get D-Wolf (Kai Silva), Shepherd (Terry Musa), Luna (Luna Kim), Stinger (Ray Smee) and Vyron (Wang Yuhao). As of now, there is only one locked Operator.

Highlights

  • If Assassin’s Creed Shadows had stayed on schedule, it would have been launched just within a month.

  • Now, players who buy the Assassin’s Creed Shadows collector’s edition won’t be getting early access to the game.

  • According to Insider Gaming, Ubisoft confirmed the cancelation of Assassin’s Creed Shadows’ early access during a Discord Q&A session.

If Assassin’s Creed Shadows had stayed on schedule, it would have been launched just within a month. Instead, shadows were pushed back to an early 2025 release. Now, players who buy the Assassin’s Creed Shadows collector’s edition won’t be getting early access to the game.

According to Insider Gaming, Ubisoft confirmed the cancelation of Assassin’s Creed Shadows’ early access during a Discord Q&A session. The company also restated that it will not be moving forward with its plans of implementing season passes.

Assassin’s Creed Shadows Collector’s Edition Price Dropped

Consequently, the price of Assassin’s Creed Shadows collector’s edition will be dropped from $280 to $230. The collector’s edition will still come with a steel book, an artbook, a statue, and more. However, there could be additional changes to those products before the final release.

The report indicates that these late changes may "be inspired by the issues Ubisoft has had thus far maintaining historical accuracy and cultural representation." That was one of the reasons behind the delay of the game, in addition to a request from Shadows’ developer Ubisoft Quebec to have more time to polish the game before it launches.

Moreover, there’s been word that Ubisoft Quebec might be adding a co-op mode to Assassin’s Creed Shadows. Presumably, this will enable two players to fight side-by-side as the game’s dual protagonists, Naoe and Yasuke. But since the game has been delayed, that feature might not be ready by launch. Assassin’s Creed Shadows will be available on PC PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S on February 14, 2025.

Assassin's Creed Mirage Arrives on Steam

After a long wait, Ubisoft brought the latest Assassin's Creed mainline installment on Steam this month. Assassin's Creed Mirage is now available through Steam for all PC gamers.

The title was already available to PC users through Ubisoft+, the Ubisoft Store, and the Epic Games Store, however, Steam users had to wait about a year before the game arrived on Valve's platform. Assassin's Creed Mirage comes to Steam with various editions and DLCs that one can enjoy. By living through Basim's story, fans will fill the shoes of a novice assassin in Baghdad.

Released on October 2023, Assassin's Creed Mirage took the franchise to its roots, ditching the RPG elements the series has built since the past few titles including, Assassin's Creed Origins, Odyssey, and Valhalla.

Initially planned as a DLC for Assassin's Creed Valhalla, Ubisoft decided to make a standalone story on Basim, an antagonist in the previous title. However, Mirage's story serves as an origin to the character, who later finds himself in distant shores with the Vikings, as shown in Valhalla.

  • The Steam Deck will not be getting yearly updates. At least that’s what one of its designers has suggested.

  • On many occasions in 2023, Valve employees stated that a more powerful Steam Deck would be years away-- late 2025 at the earliest.

The Steam Deck will not be getting yearly updates. At least that’s what one of its designers has suggested. But a Steam Deck 2 will likely happen at some point. During an interview with Reviews.org (via The Verge), Steam Deck designer Lawrence Yang said, "We’re not going to do a bump every year. There’s no reason to do that."

He explained that he thought it wasn’t fair to users to provide only incremental improvements each year. He said, "...we really do want to wait for a generational leap in computing without sacrificing battery life before we ship the real second generation of Steam Deck."

Steam Deck 2 Could Still Be A Few Years Away

This aligns with previous statements from Valve. On many occasions in 2023, Valve employees stated that a more powerful Steam Deck would be years away-- late 2025 at the earliest.

Valve engineer Pierre-Loup Griffais explained that part of the Steam Deck brand is that every model can play the same games; Valve doesn’t want to change that until Steam Deck performance gets a significant jump without compromising on the battery life. During the interview, Yang did note that the company is working on a Steam Deck successor.

The Steam Deck did get an upgrade last year in the form of the Steam Deck OLED, which improves battery life and display quality. The Steam Deck’s popularity has resulted in a variety of competitors, including the Asus ROG Ally, which got SteamOS support in August.

Star Wars Outlaws Finally Gets A Steam Release Date

Star Wars Outlaws will be coming to Steam next month, having previously only been available on Ubisoft and Epic’s PC storefronts. Ubisoft recently shared the news, with a social media post saying the game was available on a wishlist now, days ahead of a 21 November launch on Valve’s platform.

Moreover, the company also revealed Assassin’s Creed Mirage is available to play through Steam now. It was known Mirage was poised for the PC storefront sometime this month, however until recently Ubisoft had kept an exact date under wraps.

In September, Ubisoft announced its new releases are set to launch day one on Steam, starting with Assassin’s Creed Shadows on February 14 next year. This marks a change for Ubisoft, which has shunned Steam launch day releases for several years now.

Other Ubisoft games have steadily trickled onto the platform eventually, however. For instance, Assassin’s Creed Valhalla and city-building strategy Anno 1800 arrived on the platform back in 2022, having previously been available elsewhere.

Physical editions of Black Myth Wukong will soon be out. In a tweet posted recently on the game’s official X account, Game Science thanked players for their patience, and said that the game’s master disc is “ready,” the PS5 physical editions” were coming soon.

For people hoping for a concrete release date, it’s hard to see Game Science giving out any specific dates, only committing to a vague statement that the physical game would be available ‘very soon.’ "Destined Ones, thank you for your patience!" the team said. "With the master disc for Black Myth Wukong ready, the PS5 physical edition will be available to you very soon."

Is Black Myth Wukong Getting An Xbox Version

There is no word on whether Black Myth Wukong will get an Xbox version. In September, Microsoft once again confirmed the delay in the Xbox launch of Black Myths Wukong is not because of “platform limitations.”

But even though Game Science’s action RPG was released in August on PC and PS5, the Xbox version is still delayed for unknown reasons. There were speculations that the developer was struggling to run the game on the Series S console, while other rumors hinted the game was in fact a PlayStation console exclusive.

The instant global hit Black Myth: Wukong could be getting DLC or expansions in early 2025. According to analyst Daniel Camilo, DLC for Black Myth: Wukong is said to launch sometime around Chinese New Year. That would put it at, or around, the end of January. Announcements of the plans could be made anytime around December.

Black Myth: Wukong DLC To Reportedly Come Out In Early 2025

As far as what any DLC for the game would entail, that’s currently unknown. Camilo did say, however, that despite the game selling over 20 million copies, he expects the DLC to only be bought by 20% of the total player base. He says that’s due to a number of factors such as the game’s difficulty and having 70% of its sales in China where the “novelty and national pride” of the game has worn off by then.

Insider Gaming has yet to independently verify any information regarding the rumors. Until that happens or something official is announced, we recommend our readers take this information with a pinch of salt. Chinese video game “Black Myth: Wukong” has sent ripples across the world of gaming, selling more than 10 million copies across all platforms, just three days after its release on August 20, developer Game Science announced.

Considered the first Chinese-developed AAA title, Black Myth: Wukong topped the “most-played games” list on Steam, a popular gaming platform, just an hour after its debut. Game Science revealed that the game’s maximum number of concurrent players across all platforms surpassed 3 million.

During the recent Xbox Partner Preview, 505 Games revealed the first extended look at Wuchang: Fallen Feathers, a Soulslike game that is already drawing comparisons to Black Myth: Wukong.

Wuchang: Fallen Feathers Could Be Another Hit From China

The story is set in China near the end of the Ming dynasty, but the visuals of the newly released trailer suggest that myth and magic will play a more crucial role in the game than actual history. The video also offers a glimpse of the powers that the players will have at their commands.

Wuchang is the game’s protagonist who appears to favor using a sword. However, the video also demonstrates that she can use her staff to fire projectile weapons and apparently some magic-based attacks. It’s difficult to get a read on Wuchang’s personality since the only spoken lines in the trailer belong to her unmanned enemy.

Against the backdrop of the battles between Wuchang and the god-like beings whom she takes on, the land of Shu has been stricken by a plague, which can cause mutations. But in Wuchang’s hands, these mutations can unlock powers or change her form into something more than human.

Wuchang comes across as formidable even without those abilities, but she will require them for boss fights that await her. Wuchang: Fallen Feathers will come to Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and PC. Microsoft and 505 Games have also announced that Wuchang: Fallen Feathers will be on Game Pass on day one of its launch.
