After Shiva Nandy, Founder and CEO of Skyesports teased Skyesports Championship 5.0, fans eagerly awaited more information. As the event approaches, Skyesports is slowly lifting the curtains on the details surrounding Skyesports Championship 5.0. Recently, Shiva mentioned that Skyesports will be welcoming European Counter-Strike 2 teams for their upcoming Skyesports Championship 5.0. While the names have not been revealed, fans speculate that European giants, OG and Natus Vincere (NAVI), will be part of the LAN event.
Shiva even mentioned that a third team has accepted their invitation and will travel to India to participate in Skyesports Championship 5.0. Out of the massive Rs. 2,12,00,000 prize pool, Skyesports will host a CS2 tournament worth Rs. 80,00,000 with European, UAE, and Indian teams. After the success of the first franchise-based CS:GO tournament, Skyesports Masters, the tournament organizer might invite a few Indian teams to compete against the International team.
Skyesports Championship 5.0 To Host A CS2 LAN Tournament With European Teams
Following the success of Skyesports Masters, Skyesports will host Championship 5.0, their longest-running IP, at Koramangala Indoor Stadium. Skyesports Masters was India's first-ever franchised-based CS:GO tournament, with Gods Reign lifting the trophy and the check of Rs. 44.25 Lakh out of the Rs. 2 Crore prize pool.
Out of the overall prize pool, the BGMI semifinals and LAN finals will feature Rs. 1.25 Crore while the rest of the prize pool worth Rs. 80 Lakh will go towards the CS2 LAN. With a gigantic prize pool and European teams invited to Championship 5.0, Skyesports is taking CS2 very seriously. Indian teams might expect an invite from Skyesports to compete against the European juggernauts, helping them get the necessary exposure to compete with International teams.
In their recent announcement, Skyesports announced TSM and NAVI Junior as their third and fourth invited teams for the upcoming EU closed qualifiers. European closed qualifiers will start on 23 October 2023, and Skyesports is expected to reveal the information for India and Middle-East Qualifiers soon. The winner from the closed qualifiers will fly to India for the Skyesports Championship 5.0 CS2 LAN, Mumbai. Championship 5.0 CS2 LAN will be a three-day event from 1 December 2023 to 3 December 2023.
Apart from the EU closed qualifiers, Championship 5.0 CS2 will feature India and Middle-East Qualifiers. After the first-ever franchised-based CS:GO tournament, Skyesports Masters, Skyesports will look forward to including Indian teams and giving them international exposure. Skyesports Championship 5.0 CS2 will feature a prize pool of $100,000, totalling Skyesports' investment in Counter-Strike's prize money to Rs. 80,00,000.
