After seeing Team XSpark's performance at the Upthrust Esports Diwali Battle Season 2, Scout set up his livestream and discussed a lot of things including the possibility of closing operations of Team XSpark. Talking about the performance, Scout had hinted that he might consider closing Team Xspark if the team continues showing poor performances.
Scout Talks About Team XSpark's Future
After the team's lackluster performance, Scout addressed the whole situation on his livestream and touched upon how tough it is to run an Esports team, especially when the results are marginal. He said:
To be honest I have spent over Rs 50 to 55 Lakh in the last five months on the organization including salaries, food and stay expenses and everything else combined. I have put money from my own pocket as I don’t have anyone to provide the monetary support. I have only received Rs 25 Lakh in return from which taxes are also going to be deducted. So it's not a profitable business. We could have made an esports team from scratch that had no salaries but it's fine, it is a learning experience for me.
He also touched upon the topic of sponsors and said that the team is looking for a sponsor to keep operations running, and if a few aren't found, they might have to restructure/shutter the org.
Hopefully, we get a sponsor soon but if we don’t get one I cannot continue to give salaries. We are talking to a few sponsors and if we get one we will be able to continue, but if we can’t, I will have to close the organization.
After the fans and audience heard this news, they assumed that the journey for Team XSpark would come to an end. However, Scout clarified his stance on the broadcast group and said that they're exploring options and he is not shutting shop. He said:
Guys... You don't have to worry about the team and I. We have a lot of sponsors lined up (for discussions) and when the time is right, we will get a sponsor onboard and you guys don't have to worry about it. I will update you guys when we take a step on it.
For now, Team XSpark is playing with a new roster and is looking to perform exceptionally at the Red Bull M.E.O Season 6 BGMI event. The team has announced Aditya's departure and the inclusion of Spraygod and Gamlaboy to the roster for the event.
