NRG has announced their Valorant roster for the 2024 season. Austin "crashies" Roberts and Victor "Victor" Wong have been kept on the North American team's 2023 roster, but fans are excited due to the three new players that complete the starting five.

NRG Pick Two Ex-Evil Geniuses Players For VCT 2024

NRG had a lot of momentum going into their VCT 2023 run, but in the end, the team couldn't capitalize on said momentum as they exited Valorant Champions 2023 quite early. With their strength both at home and in other competitions during the year, it was evident that the team had a great deal of potential; but, if they were to be a serious threat for the title in 2024, they would need to make certain changes. The NRG roster now stands as such:

  • Austin "crashies" Roberts
  • Victor "Victor" Wong
  • Max "Demon1" Mazanov
  • Jimmy "Marved" Nguyen
  • Ethan "Ethan" Arnold (IGL)
  • Chet "Chet" Singh (Coach)

Jimmy "Marved" Nguyen recently joined the NRG team. He had an outstanding run on a struggling Sentinels team, having joined the team late due to visa concerns until the end of VCT Americas 2023. The most significant newcomers, though, are Max "Demon1" Mazanov and Ethan "Ethan" Arnold, two Evil Geniuses players who won VALORANT Champions 2023 over just months ago. The Evil Geniuses players were reportedly in "contract jail" for three months before the signings. EG not only stated that despite winning the 2023 Champions the players would be paid less, but also turned down the buyout offers from prestigious organizations, leaving the players to have no choice left to escape the organization.

OpTic Gaming split up after almost taking the world by storm, and Marved was sidelined for the rest of 2023. Later, he was selected by the Sentinels as their sixth man, and following a few weeks in that capacity, the team decided to promote him to the starting lineup as part of their mid-season roster revamp. Marved made nine appearances for the Sentinels, helping them to four victories during a difficult season that saw them place fourth in the Americas LCQ and eighth in the VCT Americas. Reunited with Austin "crashies" Roberts and Victor "Victor" Wong, Marved won Masters Reykjavik in 2022 and fell two maps short of capturing Valorant Champions. He will play with these two old teammates again in NRG.

As of 2024, Ethan will be taking on the IGLing responsibilities formerly held by Pujan "FiNESSE" Mehta, who was let go from his NRG contract earlier this year along with former member Sam "s0m" Oh, according to coach Chet "Chet" Singh. It is believed that neither player will participate again in VCT 2024.
