Esports Featured in Bihar's Republic Day Parade's Tableau

On the auspicious occasion of India's 75th Republic Day, Bihar's Republic Day parade featured a plethora of Tableau. Bihar State Sports Authority, BSSA, also participated in the Republic Day parade with a Tableau to showcase and glorify different sports, including esports. The inclusion of esports at the Republic Day parade in Bihar by BSSA showcases the government and authority's belief in esports and ensures the government's commitment to the field. 

 

The Bihar government has showcased their interest in esports throughout 2023 by organising its first-ever esports tournament and introducing esports as a curriculum in schools and colleges. As the esports calendar enters 2024, the Bihar government and BSSA support on an occasion like Republic Day only strengthens the spirits of all the stakeholders and players in the esports industry.

Bihar State Sports Authority Showcased Esports In Their Tableau At Republic Day Parade In Bihar

 

 

During the Republic Day parade in Bihar, esports was a part of BSSA's Tableau, where they replicated a player playing FIFA at the Bihar State Esports Open Championship. Republic Day parade isn't BSSA's first time showing support for Indian esports. In 2023, Bihar State Sports Authority organised the first-ever Bihar State Esports Open Championship. After the open qualifiers, the government hosted a LAN final at Patliputra Sports Complex, Kankarbagh, Patna. 

 

The esports titles featured at the event were eChess, FIFA 23, BGMI and Real Cricket 24, with the top performers receiving free training with the support of Bihar State Sports Authority. Shri Jitendra Kumar Rai, Minister of Art, Culture & Youth Department, Bihar, proudly acknowledged the achievements of mobile gamers at the Bihar State Esports Open Championship Finals. After the event, Raveendran Sankaran, Director General of BSSA, revealed that the Bihar Government will look forward to bringing esports policies to support the sector and adding esports as a curriculum in schools and colleges. Shri Jitendra Kumar Rai, Minister of Art, Culture & Youth Department, Bihar, talks about his aim of building policies and technical programs for esports, where he said (via Univ Sportatech):

 

The objective is to incorporate an esports training program in schools and colleges as part of a talent identification Program. 

 

While talking about nurturing young talents in esports, Raveendran Sankaran, Director General at BSSA, said (via Univ Sportatech):

 

The aim is to discover and nurture talent for participation in the Asian Games, the Olympic Virtual Series and any other medal esports competitions recognised by the IOC. We aspire to establish Bihar as a leading state for talent development in this sector.
