The Ubisoft Original FPS title, XDefiant, has been delayed after the shooter failed Microsoft's and Sony's console certification tests. While the French developers promised a summer launch for the game, executive producer Mark Rubin posted an update mentioning that the launch in October is now "likely." This is because the title requires to ensure that it meets all the necessary requirements for console users. According to Rubin, the title's release hold-up is mainly due to the revelations of unspecified compliance bugs. The gameplay has no issues, Rubin added.

XDefiant Gets Delayed Following The Console Certification Tests Failure
In the official update post for XDefiant by Mark Rubin, the producer wrote that the developers have fixed or completed all the tasks that they think are needed for the submission. He also added more about the compliance bugs, saying they are the ones that relate to the system's overall experience. These include tracking trophies and a correctly updated friend list with game status.
Rubin also mentioned that Ubisoft San Francisco planned to submit an updated game version for certification in the coming weeks, with the title possibly ready to release this month. However, the likely scenario for the developers is now to get a conditional Pass. This means that Ubisoft will have to do a Day 1 patch, applying some final fixes regarding compliance. If the Day 1 patch succeeds, the developers can push out the release window towards early or mid-October.
The title has garnered much attention since its reveal in July 2021. Since its announcement, fans have been eyeing the IP that promised fast-paced gameplay where one can pick between multiple factions from the Ubisoft world. The two Beta sessions for XDefiant were also well received across the community, with many fans impressed upon its free-to-play status. The Ubisoft original game will launch on PC, PS5/PS4, Xbox Series X|S, and Xbox One, with the title also supporting crossplay among the current-gen systems.
