After a glorious victory at Valorant Champions Tour 2024: Masters Madrid, Sentinels is back in Los Angeles to play the VCT 2024: Stage 1 Americas. Sentinels played their first match of the Stage 1 against 100 Thieves and won with a 2-0 scoreline. While everyone thought the victory was a smooth one for Sentinels, Zellsis opened up about the tech issues faced by the Valorant team during the match.
According to Zellsis, the match referee forced the team to play through audio issues and asked the team to fix the issue as the game went on. Zellsis said that even on repeated requests, the management did not call a tech pause and would threaten the team if they paused the game.
“If You Pause, They Threaten You. They Take Away Your Timeout”, Zellsis on Audio Issues At VCT 2024: Stage 1 Americas
After decimating 100 Thieves in their first match of the season, Sentinels’ flex player Zellsis came live on his Twitch. While going through the match VOD, Zellsis opened up about tech issues faced by them during the game. Zellsis said:
We got on stage; our entire audio is f****d, everyone’s audio is f****d, our game audio is f****d, and our comm audio is f****d. We get on stage, and they are like, we need to do walkouts, but we are like, we need to fix our audios. They say alright, you guys can fix it when we get back into the game. When we get into the game, they start the match, and we feel like we need to fix our audio. We need to fix our audio. We need to fix our audio. We can’t hear anything.
After all the complaints to the VCT management, they replied by saying, “You just play with it and fix it as we go”, because of which, on every defensive round, players from Sentinels were yet to play with configured audio. Zellsis said that they couldn’t take any tech pause, and if they paused the game, the management would threaten them by taking away their timeouts.
Despite the tech issues, Sentinels managed to defeat the 100 Thieves and kicked off their season in style. The Brazilian initiator, Sacy, was the MVP of the game with 36 kills and 233 ACS.
