Destiny 2's expansion, called The Final Shape, which was delayed last year, is now going to be showcased next week, Bungie has announced. The expansion is scheduled to launch in June this year. The studio will be streaming a half-hour developer gameplay preview next week, on April 9, 2024, at 9.30 am PT / 12.30 pm ET / 5.30 pm BST. Destiny 2 fans have been waiting for the reveal for a long time, as this was deemed the final expansion for the game.
Bungie delayed The Final Shape in November 2023 and originally gave a February 27, 2024 release date to the expansion. However, these details are likely to change after the upcoming broadcast.

Destiny 2 The Final Shape Expansion to be Showcased at Upcoming Bungie Broadcast
The teaser trailer for Destiny 2: The Final Shape was released back in May 2023. It promoted the last expansion of the title with various plot elements that fans have appreciated about Destiny 2's lore and world-building. However, it was delayed by Bungie as the studio suffered mass layoffs in October.
This not only slowed down the development for the expansion but also forced the developers to take more time to carve the content for the update. Bungie has stated that The FInal Shape expansion is the "culmination" of the first ten years of Destiny's storytelling for the fans, and will deeply focus on the co-op experience of gamers and their hours spent together in the universe. In a way, developers have stated that the expansion will be a love letter to fans who have stuck around with the game for so long. In a message by Bungie, the studio said:
“We want to honor that journey, so we’re taking the time we need to deliver an even bigger and bolder vision, one that we hope will be remembered and treasured for years to come.”
After Sony acquired Bungie in mid-2022, the Destiny makers suffered hefty losses, especially due to the poor player retention for Destiny 2, which also led to the layoffs of 100 Bungie employees at the time. Sony explained these layoffs as a part of their 'cost-cutting' plan. These incidents greatly impacted The Final Shape expansion's development in the long run. However, fans will finally be able to take another glimpse at the expansion soon next week with the Bungie broadcast.
