In the Playoffs, FNATIC chose GenG as their opening match opponents, but the decision bit them back as GenG demolished the EMEA champions and pushed them into the lower brackets.
After defeating FNATIC, GenG went against the American champions, 100 Thieves. GenG carried their momentum and defeated another top-seeded team to qualify for the upper finals. GenG continued their domination over the American teams as the boys in black and gold demolished G2 Esports to qualify for the VCT 2024: Masters Shanghai grand finals.
In the grand finals, GenG went against Team Heretics, who made their way by eliminating FUT Esports, 100 Thieves, and G2 Esports in the lower bracket. GenG started the series by winning the map of Breeze with a 13-6 dominating scoreline. While GenG was leading, the momentum shifted in Team Heretics' favour as they won Icebox and Ascent, both with 13-9 scorelines.
With just one map away from lifting the trophy, Team Heretics entered the map of Lotus. While GenG was struggling in the previous maps, the Korean players decided to trust their natural game on Lotus. After losing the first three rounds, GenG went on to win twelve consecutive rounds to reach the map point. While Team Heretics tried to push GenG away from victory, the Korean giants destroyed them to win Lotus and tie the scores.
Despite a tied scoreline, GenG looked in control of the game as the teams entered the decider map of Split. GenG continued their domination in Split and secured a massive 9-3 lead in the first half. Team Heretics got no chance to make a comeback from the trail, resulting in GenG winning the map with a 13-3 scoreline and winning the VCT 2024: Masters Shanghai.
