Final Fantasy VII Rebirth Release Date and Other Details

The brand new Final Fantasy VII Rebirth trailer showcased at the State of Play 2023 revealed the release date to be on February 29, 2024. After four years of the original Remake, Square Enix is ready to launch another sequel following Cloud's story. The trailer also showcased various new characters, including Cait Sith, coming to Cloud's party. Each character shares a connection with Cloud's past, as most Final Fantasy veterans would know.

In the official blog post posted by Sony, the developers behind the title shared deep insight into the game, mentioning key points such as Red XIII becoming a playable party member starting from Final Fantasy VII Rebirth. Director Naoki Hamaguchi also stated that the title would feature many new summonses alongside some returning ones from the original game, allowing fans to have a fleshed-out experience over the previous one.

Regarding the map, Hamaguchi explained that the story will take a new turn with the team leaving Midgar as they set to track down Sephiroth across an 'expansive' world. This time around, Square Enix has emphasized exploration-focused game design to aid players in their journey and focus on traveling. Sony and Square Enix have stated that Rebirth will offer a completely different and unique experience to fans coming from the original Remake from 2020. With new characters and playable members in the pipeline, how the developers will handle the title release in the 2024 Q1 is yet to be seen.

Despite a PlayStation blog earlier this year that suggested Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater would drop in 2024, Konami has yet to put a definite release date against the highly-anticipated remake.

According to Konami’s half-yearly financial results, Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater is still listed as “TBD,” alongside Silent Hill f, Silent Hill Townfall, and a couple of games only released in Japan.

It’s not that the company is simply avoiding detailing the release dates of games coming in 2025, either - other titles on the list such as Yu-Gi-Oh! Early Days Collection has generic "2025" or "Feb 2025" dates appended. It’s just Snake Eater and the Silent Hill games that have no hint of a street date at all.

Metal Gear Solid: Snake Eater To Borrow Elements From Original

For players hoping for a little more information about Silent Hill 2 Remake’s financial performance, that too is sadly missing from the presentation. As of now, it’s pretty much known that it sold over a million copies in just three days.

Konami says the remake of Metal Gear Solid: Snake Eater maintains what players loved from the original, such as its story, characters, voice acting, gameplay, and music, but now it is "presented in an even more immersive experience".

It’s been a year since players got a look at some in-engine footage of the remake. While Snake actor David Hayter gave the trailer his approval, others believed they missed the older style of the original game.

Ubisoft Brings First-Ever Blockchain Game With NFTs

Ubisoft has announced the launch of its first-ever blockchain game, the tactical NFT battler Champions Tactics: Grimora Chronicles. The company announced the game last June after dabbling in blockchain but has only now quietly launched it.

The game is on PC and free to start, though players can buy figurines with which to battle using either in-game gold or cryptocurrency. These figurines are NFTs and can be bought on the game’s marketplace from anywhere between $7 to $64,000. It seems to be possible to play the game without buying figurines, though those willing to pay extortionate prices will surely have more success in battles.

Battles themselves are turn-based affairs against other players with squads of three figurines. Francois Bodson, studio director at Ubisoft Paris, told IGN the game "offers deep strategic gameplay featuring unique in-game assets and several exciting innovations", comparing it with a physical trading card game.

BioWare currently has no plans for downloadable Dragon Age: The Veilguard expansions, seemingly scuttling any hopes for DLC on the order of fan-favorite releases like Trespasser or Awakening. Instead, Rolling Stone reports that the developer’s "full attention has shifted entirely to the next Mass Effect" now that Dragon Age is official.

While the developer did not offer any follow-up details in Rolling Stone’s report, IGN understands that the studio plans to support The Veilguard with improvements and a handful of smaller content updates.

BioWare’s Decision To Skip DLC Could Be Surprising

BioWare’s decision to not release a DLC expansion might come as a surprise given its history with Mass Effect, Dragon Age, and Baldur's Gate 2. DLC episodes like Mass Effect 2’s Lair of the Shadowbroker, the Dragon Age 2 prequel Leliana's Song, and Trespasser include some of the developer’s best-loved stories.

This offers a deeper look at their worlds and characters. But having finally finished its decade-long journey with the Veilguard, BioWare seems ready to focus its attention on Mass Effect, which has been largely on hold due to the studio focusing all of its efforts on shipping Dragon Age. Meanwhile, fans are busy exploring Bioware’s latest RPG after Dragon Age’s launch, boosting it to new highs for an EA game on Steam.

Elder Scrolls Game Shutting Down, Gets Delisted On Steam

The Elder Scroll: Legends has confirmed that it is shutting down on January 30, 2025, removing players’ ability to play the digital card game for good. While The Elder Scrolls: Legends has already been delisted from Steam, players who have the game on PC and mobile can continue to play the game until this date.

The Elder Scrolls: Legends was first released back in 2017 when it faced a lot of competition in the digital card game genre. Other titles such as Hearthstone have something of a stronghold on the genre, and The Elder Scrolls: Legends largely failed to find an audience despite its connection to Bethesda’s wildly popular RPG franchise.

The game’s Steam population peaked at almost 9,000 players back in 2017, although this quickly cratered. By 2020, its Steam player count had fallen into the hundreds and never managed to recover, in part due to The Elder Scrolls: Legends being put on hold in late 2019. It hasn’t received any updates since.
While the company has yet to release any statement on its social media channels or website, as reported by PCGamesN, players launching the game are now getting a message confirming the game’s imminent closure.

Square Enix seems to be boosting the availability and accessibility of its games by making sure future game releases are "released simultaneously" on different platforms. Talking to 4Gamer, Final Fantasy 14 producer and director Naoki "Yoshi-P" Yoshida noted that the developer was looking to shift away from platform exclusivity, revealing that fans can expect "Square Enix titles will be released simultaneously on each platform more and more."

"Of course, we want you to play it a lot on other platforms as well," he said, talking about the upcoming launch of Fantasian Neo Dimension. "This time, we will also release the Xbox Series X|S version at the same time. In the future, Square Enix titles will be released simultaneously on each platform more and more, but since this is close to the first release, we would like Xbox users to play it as well."

Some Re-Releases Expected Soon

Yoshida also teased that he is interested in a re-release of Vagrant Story and Final Fantasy Tactics, and "joked around with Hironobu Sakaguchi about the possibility of a new Parasite Eve game."

ICYMI, Final Fantasy 14's Crossroads patch - the first major update for the MMO following the release of Dawntrail now has a confirmed release date: Tuesday, November 12.

This update will bring several new bits and pieces, including the Yuweyawata Field Station dungeon, Chaotic Alliance Raids, and more role quests. Final Fantasy 14 Crossroads Finally Has a Release Date

Final Fantasy 14’s Crossroads patch finally has a release date, the first major update for the MMO following the launch of Dawntrail. This update will bring several new bits and pieces, including the Yuweyawata Field Station dungeon, Chaotic Alliance Raids, and more role quests.

"Players who have completed all Dawntrail role quests or all Wachumeqimeqi quests will be able to enjoy a finale to wrap up their respective stories," the Final Fantasy team explained. And that’s just a sneak peek of everything coming to Final Fantasy 14 on Crossroads’ release.

Recently, Final Fantasy 14's Naoki Yoshida addressed the personal abuse sent toward Wuk Lamat's voice actor, stating it "breaks my heart." Wuk Lamat was a fresh character brought in by Dawntrail but failed to strike the chords with some players. This turned ugly when voice actor Sena Bryer got transphobic abuse for her portrayal.

It has almost been a year since the first GTA 6 trailer was released by Rockstar Games, shattering the Internet and records in the process. There is still no official word of when the second GTA 6 trailer will be launched, but with the game currently scheduled to release holiday 2025 via PS5 and Xbox Series X, a second trailer is surely on the horizon. Well, the company might launch the second trailer this month.

In a new promotional image for GTA Online, Grand Theft Auto fans noticed something fairly interesting. More specifically, it’s been noticed the promotional image features the moon in the Waning Gibbous phase. While it may sound irrelevant, some GTA fans think it is a subtle and cryptic GTA 6 tease.

Is GTA 6 Trailer 2 Really Launching This Month

If this turns out to be true, it would point to something happening on November 22, which is when the Waning Gibbous phase will occur this month. It goes without saying, this can’t be related to a GTA 6 release date, so perhaps it is the release date for the second GTA 6 trailer. November 22 is a Friday, so it is not out of the possibility zone this is the date.

It is reasonable to expect the second GTA 6 trailer to be launched sometime this year, but right now there is no guarantee this will happen, especially if the game could be delayed to 2026, which based on what the rumors have suggested, or at least it was as of a few months ago.

GTA 6’s Most Detailed Map Leaked Online, Is It Real?

When Rockstar Games released Grand Theft Auto VI’s reveal trailer in December last year, nobody would’ve thought they’d be sitting in October of the following year with an update. Certainly, with GTA VI still a year away from its planned launch, clearly, Rockstar Games was never going to spill any beans so soon. But a couple of screenshots wouldn’t hurt anyone until the company decided to reveal the gameplay.

GTA VI is set to break cover in the fall of next year, which could be anytime between September and November. With the launch date inching closer, Rockstar Games could shift gears in the coming months.

Thanks to ventures like the mapping project, fans are still hooked. For the unversed, the mapping project has been led by a group of fans who are using the game’s trailer as well as previously leaked data to make a mock-up of the game’s map.
