With the launch of Cyberpunk 2077 Phantom Liberty DLC in sight, CD Projekt Red has revealed an updated set of system requirements. Most interestingly, it confirms that the game will no longer support HDDs and is mandating the use of SSDs.
Given the scale and scope of the expansion, it seems only fair that the developers will not want to risk performance issues and consistency. SSDs help the player achieve better load times and consistent performance across the board when it comes to open-world games.
The new expansion will only be available on current-gen consoles - PS5, Xbox Series X/S and will require the use of SSDs on PC. This is a trend that is sure to catch on as Bethesda's upcoming RPG, Starfield will also require the use of SSDs.

- Targeted Performance - 1080p @30 FPS
- OS - 64-bit Windows 10
- Processor - Core i7 6700, Ryzen 5 1600
- GPU - GeForce GTX 1060 6 GB, Radeon RX 580 8 GB Arc A380
- VRAM - 6GB
- RAM - 12GB
- Storage - 70GB SSD
Recommended:
- Targeted Performance - 2160p @60 FPS
- OS - 64-bit Windows 10
- Processor - Core i9 12900, Ryzen 9 7900X
- GPU - GeForce RTX 3080, Radeon RX 7900 XTX
- VRAM - 12GB
- RAM - 20GB
- Storage - 70GB NVMe
While this is the standard requirement for the game running without Ray-Tracing, if players want to utilize the game's new RT Overdrive Mode, they're going to need some serious hardware. RT Overdrive mode can be achieved only through the new GeForce RTX 4080 paired with a core i9-12900.
Cyberpunk 2077 has made one heck of a comeback and the new DLC is sure to boost sales yet again. With this new set of updated requirements, it is clear to see that the expansion hopes to significantly add to the game through gameplay improvements and visual upgrades.
