There have been several rumors about Samsung Display trying hard to make Apple its next big foldable display client. But nothing can be said for sure, as Apple hasn’t been clear about its plans regarding a foldable display. But it seems Apple’s stance might have changed, as a new report hints that the two tech giants have signed a deal.

There isn’t any specific detail about the deal yet (via DigiTimes Asia); however, the source has cited supply chain sources and said Apple has signed an agreement with Samsung Display “for the development of foldable devices.”

This means that Samsung Display will indeed be supplying Apple with its foldable device, but it’s not certain which foldable device these two companies will be working on. Going by the rumors, Apple’s first foldable device could be an iPhone or a large tablet.

Samsung Display Seems Set For The New Venture

As per industry reports, Samsung Display was already in the process of preparing its manufacturing lines to meet Apple’s demands, just in case Apple decided to develop a foldable device.

Samsung Display has been developing foldable devices for years now, and it is extremely important for the firm that its R&D efforts give big returns. Although Samsung’s mobile division is shipping more foldable devices every year, the display division wants to rope in more clients to increase the sales of foldable displays. Apple seems to be a big client for the company.

If rumors are to be believed, Apple’s first foldable iPhone will go into the mass production stage in 2026 and hit the market shelves in the same year. Reports also suggest that the company might be working on a 20.3-inch foldable iPad or MacBook, which would go into mass production in 2025 and hit the market in 2026 or 2027.

Whatever Apple has in store, Samsung Display seems to be a big part of that plan, if the reports turn out to be true. Apple will surely have a fresh take on the foldable device segment and can give Samsung some tough competition.

Apple Might Be Taking Another Page From Samsung’s Book

As a part of Galaxy AI, Samsung One UI 6.1 brought the Transcript Assist feature to the company’s Voice Recorder app. This feature offers the ability to transcribe voice recordings and also provide AI-generated summaries of those transcriptions to make it easier for users to understand the content.

Well, it seems Apple might be working on a similar feature, and it will be seen on the company’s iOS 18, the operating system that powers the iPhones. As per a new report from Apple Insider, iOS 18 will update the Voice Memos and Notes apps with the transcribe voice recordings feature.
