Santiago Galvis Ruiz, also known as DaveeyS, of KRU Esports, passed away on 03 September 2023 after suffering from decompensation. On 04 September 2023, DaveeyS's organisation KRU Esports shared the news with the community on their socials, stating, "There is no way to smooth this over; it took us all by surprise." DaveeyS was one of the key players who played KRU Esports in winning VCT Americas LCQ and helping the team to qualify for VCT Champions 2023.

DaveeyS, One of the Most Crucial Players for KRU Esports, Passes Away at 23
DaveeyS joined KRU Esports in October 2022 and has played a crucial role in the success of the partnered team. After the team could not grab a single victory in the VCT Americas regular season, KRU Esports made a comeback in VCT Americas LCQ. The team went on a winning streak in the LCQ and defeated Leviatán in the Grand Finals to qualify for VCT Champions 2023. DaveeyS was one of the key players in KRU Esports' journey to Champions.

On 02 September 2023, DaveeyS celebrated his 23rd birthday. Later, on 03 September 2023, his teammate, axeddy, shared a cryptic message on his Twitter, stating, "Guys, I took a break from valorant today, tomorrow lives are back. Never forget to tell the people you love that you love them." KRU Esports has also organised a farewell for DaveeyS on 05 September 2023 and has shared the schedule and address for the same.
