As we approach the launch of Alan Wake II, Thomas Puha, Communications Director at Remedy Entertainment, gave a sneak peek about the Performance Mode in Alan Wake 2. Alan Wake 2 will be a survival horror game, which will be available on Epic Games Store, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. The game will feature Performance Mode on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X. Puha confirmed that development initially was underway with a focus on environmental and atmospheric design with a 30 FPS lock. However, it appears that the studio has been able to achieve a solid 60 frames per second on console.

I’m glad to say that Alan Wake 2 will have a Performance mode on PS5 and Xbox Series X. The game has been built from the beginning as a 30fps experience focusing on visuals and ambiance, but somehow we have managed to include a solid Performance mode. We’ll talk details later.

Alan Wake by Remedy Entertainment follows thriller novelist Alan Wake as he witnesses his horror stories come to life in visceral form. In a conversation with IGN, Sam Lake, the Creative Director of Remedy, shared that the game will focus more on survival and exploration than its predecessor, which focused on combat. While Alan Wake 2 will continue Alan's story, Saga Anderson, an FBI agent, will share her story as the second protagonist. Alan Wake 2 will provide two different stories and perspectives thanks to two protagonists, as the tale swaps the leads in between.
While the developers focused on building solid visuals and ambience, they plan to add Performance Mode to Alan Wake 2 from the beginning on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X. While more details aren't out, the consoles will undoubtedly have the Performance Mode option. Alan Wake 2 will be available to play on PC via Epic Games, Xbox Series X/S and PlayStation 5 from 27 October 2023. Fans can pre-order the game at a base price of $49.99 for Standard Edition and $69.99 for Deluxe Edition from their website.
