Players can change their Riot ID, or account name, across different game titles with Riot Games. Players can now choose to change their in-game usernames thanks to this. So you can always change your name in Valorant if you made your Riot Games account in a hurry and now regret it, or if you just came up with a catchier nickname that makes you happier. Until now, VALORANT's name change procedure was different from that of League of Legends and other Riot games. Changing your name didn't need to use the in-game currency. However, as of November 20, 2023, the paid option will be used. This is the procedure for changing your VALORANT name.

Step-By-Step Guide To Change In-Game Username

Take these steps that follow:

  1. Close your Valorant client carefully.

  2. Launch your preferred browser and navigate to the Riot Account webpage.

  3. Sign in using your credentials.

  4. Navigate to the left portion of the account field and choose "Riot ID" from the list of options.

  5. Locate the Riot ID menu.

  6. To remove your current Riot ID, click on it.

  7. Put your new name there.

  8. Then, to confirm the modification, click "save changes" below.

  9. You can now use the updated username.

The tagline that appears at the end of your name is also changeable. It has a series of digits or letters along with a hashtag. League players now refer to each other by their Summoner Names; altering it will not change your Riot ID or tagline. However, as of next month, Riot IDs will replace Summoner Names across the naming system, so modifying your VALORANT name will also change your name in League.

It's important that you understand the guidelines before selecting a VALORANT name because there are now much fewer opportunities for you to do so for free. If you use inappropriate or abusive language on your Riot ID, Riot may flag it and, in the case of repeated offenses, charge you a penalty on your account. The following are things you should avoid:

  • Names that, either directly or indirectly, imply hate words, insults, or profanity.

  • Most names that have political, ethical, or historical connotations.

  • Names with extreme profanity, horrible imagery, and insults.

Regardless of when they may have last changed, all players will receive a free Riot ID change on November 20, 2023. After the initial release, this free Riot ID change will be renewed a few times. It will then take 365 days from your last free Riot ID change to become available again. Paid Riot ID modifications will only be accessible with RP (League of Legends) and Coins (Legends of Runeterra) after November 20, 2023. A few months later, VP (VALORANT) will be available as an a substitute.

The currency option you select will determine how much it costs to update your Riot ID:

League of Legends: 1250 RP
 Legends of Runeterra: 1000 Coins
