Cyberpunk 2077 Sequel Finds New Lead Narrative in Fable Writer - Anna Mergill

CD Projekt Red officially confirmed a Cyberpunk 2077 sequel in October 2023, claiming the game is early in development. Fast forward to February 2024, the Polish developers have shared further news regarding the development process, as they announced a new addition to the studio. On February 7, CDPR announced that five new veteran developers have joined the team with 'years of experience.' 

 

The addition also includes a former New World head of production Dan Hernberg, and Remedy's Control pre-production narrative lead, Anna Megil. The latter has also worked as the narrative lead on the still-in-development Fable reboot by Playgrounds Games.

Former Fable Reboot Veteran And More Talents Join Development for Cyberpunk 2077 Sequel

 

Following Anna Megill's departure from the Fable Reboot project in July 2023, the narrative head has made their way to CD Projekt Red's cave, the studio behind popular titles like The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt and Cyberpunk 2077.  Megill announced her joining through her official X post as the top writer on CD Projekt Red's Project Orion (CP2077 sequel), making fans excited for the next entry. Megill has worked on some phenomenal projects in the past, including Bethesda's Dishonored: Death of the Outsider (DLC), Square Enix's Murdered: Souls Suspect, and Remedy's Control. 

 

Not only these games have held a strong narrative for fans to follow, but have also delivered unique storytelling through gameplay and environment. With the next Cyberpunk game in development, gamers expect a major improvement, especially with its launch. Alongside Megill, CDPR is also welcoming Alexader Freed, one of the lead writers for popular titles like Star Wars: The Old Republic and Wasteland 3. The writer is known for his works on various novels and comic books and has been labeled a New York Times best-selling author. 

 

Dan Hernberg, the executive producer on Orion is also here with some talent. Having previously worked on Lost Ark and New World, the production head is ready to work on the new CP sequel. For design, Ryan Barnard has joined the roster, whose previous works include Crysis 2, Ryse: Son of Rome, Tom Clancy's The Division, and Hitman 2. Lastly, Alan Villani, the former vice president of technology for various Warner Brothers Games like Mortal Kombat X and Mad Max has been signed as engineering director on the project. 

 

With The Witcher Remake and another Witcher title in development, the Cyberpunk sequel is likely years away from release. That said, gamers are still excited to see what the renowned studio does with the game after fixing Cyberpunk 2077 meticulously.
