Behaviour Interactive Inc., the Dead by Daylight studio lays off 95 employees after letting go of 40 employees not more than six months ago. According to the studio, the company is making 'strategic changes for future growth' for the 'company's historical strengths' in crafting an ambitious vision for the future. In a recent press release from the company, Behaviour mentioned that it has around 1300 employees under it at the moment.

This has been a massive jump from the 575 employees from five years ago. However, the studio also mentioned that the popularity has led to a competition that they are dealing with.

Behaviour Interactive, the Dead by Daylight Studio Lays off 7% of Employees

The Dead by Daylight studio layoffs were a bit surprising for the general population in gaming, as the studio reportedly held another round in January this year, letting go of 45 Montreal-based employees. There is no doubt that the horror title developed by Behaviour is considered one of the most popular ones in the genre, however, it seems the studio is facing issues similar to many development houses in the industry.

In the press release, the studio had a lot to say about their decision to fans. The approximate dismissal of 7% of its employees was reportedly due to 'exploring the possibilities of location-based entertainment.'

Behaviour Interactive also stated that it is trying to focus on its historical strengths in the horror games genre and production expertise. It also added:

“To pursue this clarified vision, Behaviour will implement multiple strategic changes to its corporate structure, improving the distinction between its product, production, business development, and marketing resources.”

While the press release from the Dead by Daylight studio did not clarify more about the multiple strategic changes, one can expect more announcements from the studio soon. The eight-year-old game, Dead by Daylight is an extremely successful title from Behaviour, which still attracts many players regularly through frequent updates and crossovers.

That said, one can assume the Dead by Daylight Studio is set to focus on different goals for its future, capitalizing on the fanbase it has captured over the years, since the title's release in 2016. Aside from Dead by Daylight, the studio has also worked on a sci-fi, co-op title from last year, Meet Your Maker.

While the title was released to a mostly positive audience reaction, fans have still asked for some tweaks and quality-of-life changes. As of now, fans are still interested in hearing more from the studio regarding their future projects.
