As the Valorant Champions Tour 2023 comes to a close at the Kia Forum in Los Angeles, Riot Games is ready with their roadmap for VCT 2024 which will kick off in Madrid, Spain. At VCT Masters Madrid, the top 8 teams from around the globe will be part of the inaugural event of VCT 2024 in the capital of Spain.
Since 2021, each VCT cycle witnessed two Masters events (barring VCT 2023) with all 30 franchised and two Chinese teams meeting at São Paulo for VCT LOCK//IN, followed by VCT Masters Japan. In 2024, fans get to enjoy two Valorant Masters events at two new locations, Madrid and Shanghai.
VCT Masters Madrid To Be The First International Event of Valorant Champions Tour 2024
In the recent announcement, Valorant Esports shared details on what fans can expect with VCT 2024 and the inclusion of VCT Masters Madrid was one of them. With the launch of Valorant in China, the region will be the newest addition to the Valorant International League. Before VCT Masters Madrid, each region (Americas, EMEA, Pacific and China) will host a two-week kick-off tournament in February, and from there, eight teams will qualify for VCT Masters Madrid.
Here is what Leo Faria, Global Head of Valorant Esports, had to say about VCT Masters Madrid:
I am very happy to announce that Masters 2024 is going to Madrid. We have an incredibly passionate community in Spain and we cannot wait to bring everyone together to witness the very unique energy of the Spanish crowd.
With one kick-off tournament and two international leagues, teams will have to collect championship points from each tournament and the top 16 teams will qualify for VCT Champions 2024 based on their standings. While news of the updated format has been welcomed by fans, Riot Games has not mentioned anything about the LCQs so far.
