Since the showmatch is to celebrate the launch of The Draft, each team will receive a counter-strike legend who will play alongside them. Team India will receive Cloud9's star, Perfecto from the draft while SunPayus from Team Falcons will join Team Pakistan. The showmatch will be a best-of-one game.
Showcasing his excitement for The Draft, here is what Faye Marlborough, Brand Director for BLAST, said:
We are delighted to be teaming up with NODWIN Gaming to launch The Draft, giving Indian and Pakistan Counter-Strike teams the chance of a lifetime to play with CS legends on a global stage. Providing emerging esports and gaming markets with opportunities to play on a global stage is key to their long-term growth. The Draft will not only act as an important pathway for aspiring players but will also provide an exciting tournament for global and local fans to enjoy.
In January 2024, the top 64 teams from India and Pakistan will compete against each other for their slot in the online group stages match. Only six teams will advance to the regional online group stages. Blast will host a Super Six LAN event in February 2024 and the top three teams from each group stage will fly to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, for the LAN.
The special February's Super Six LAN event will feature a prize pool of $50,000 where each team will receive a counter-strike legend. With The Draft, the local teams will receive much-required international exposure as they play against the top counter-strike players in the world.
