Over the last few years, the Indian Dota scene has grown quite a bit. Last year, the Indian Dota squad secured the Bronze medal at the Commonwealth Games. This time, they will be playing against some of the best Asian teams in a LAN setup to secure a spot at the prestigious World Esports Championship 2023.
A total of eight Dota teams will be competing at the LAN environment in Riyadh for a prize pool of 12,500 USD from July 10 to July 13. Team India's roster consists of IGL Manav “mnz” Kunte, Vishal “HBK” Vernekar, Abhishek “Abhi-’ Yadav, Shahbaz “Pinkman” Hussain, and notable Pos 2 player, Krish “Krish” Gupta. They will be facing Mongolia and the Philippines on day 1, followed by Kyrgyzstan on day 02.

Team India To Represent The Nation At IESF Asian Qualifiers For Dota 2
The tournament will follow a best-of-one format for all the group-stage games. The following quarter-finals, semi-finals, and grand finals, will be played in a best-of-three format. The Champions will receive 7,000 USD, followed by second and third-placed teams who will be awarded 3,500 USD and 2,000 USD respectively. Moving into the Asian Qualifiers, this is what the captain, MnZ had to say:
“Going into the Asian qualifiers, our goal is crystal clear: to qualify for the 15th World Esports Championships. The journey will be challenging against some of the best DOTA 2 outfits from Asia but we will go out all guns blazing and leave no room for errors. We are confident of our talent as a team and apart from our preparations, our team bonding as well as strategies will help us come out on top. Together, we strive to make our nation proud and qualify for the prestigious event.”
After making a name for themselves at the Commonwealth Games, Team India will be looking to solidify their name in esports with a spot at the 15th World Esports Championship.
