Highlights

  • Team Falcons, a Saudi Esports organization, signed s1mple from NAVI on a one-month loan.

  • s1mple had previously criticized CS2, but recent updates seem to have won him over.

  • He will play for Team Falcons at BLAST Premier: Spring Showdown 2024.

In the world of traditional sports, there have been multiple shocking transfers that have taken place. The earliest example being David Beckham leaving Real Madrid for LA Galaxy. At that time MLS didn’t have the high standards of football that it currently has. Another shocking transfer would be of Cristiano Ronaldo to Al Nassr FC from Manchester United.

Until a few days ago we had not seen a transfer of this caliber in esports. Last night Team Falcons announced the signing of s1mple from NAVI on a one-month loan. Here's a look at some of the details and what to expect from this one-of-a-kind transfer.

Team Falcons Sign s1mple To CS2 Roster

Team Falcons is an Esports organization from Saudi Arabia currently ranked 15th in the world by HLTV and is known for its aggressive and creative playstyle. In December 2023, s1mple moved to the inactive roster of NAVI due to personal reasons and a desire for a change of scenery.

When CS2 was officially released worldwide, many fans were eager to try the game out, but s1mple had a different view:

I can clearly tell that if you want to become CS2 pro you still have 3 months, don’t play this shit game rn, wait for updates

Many believed that s1mple had taken a break from CS2 Esports due to the gameplay not being the best. In the eyes of many this wasn’t an excuse since he is considered one of the best talents to ever touch the game. Having won 17 MVP awards, the most in CS: GO history, s1mple displayed his consistent impact across tournaments.

He was named one of the top three players of the year three times by HLTV, which is considered one of the highest honors in the esports industry. He also led NAVI to the top spot at the CS: GO Major Stockholm 2021 In a recent video with ESL, s1mple spoke to James Banks and had this to say concerning his comeback to CS2 following the Copenhagen Major:

"I hope after Major, because I mean, I'm the sixth player for NAVI on this major. But, I hope nothing's going to happen with their roster because they've been practicing really hard after I took a break. And yeah, I just want them to progress and let's see what's going to happen after Major."

Taking about the new CS2 Update s1mple had this to say in the same interview:

"Yeah, I feel the last update, where they added new case, where they changed wide peek, I feel like it's the best update that they can ever make and I even wrote it in Twitter (X), like I'm happy with this update... So, let's see how it goes now."

Following this interview there was news speculating if s1mple was making his return to NAVI. Instead, Team Falcons approached NAVI to sign s1mple on a one-month loan on their team as a stand-in. Oleksandr will perform for Team Falcons for one month as a stand-in, including at BLAST Premier: Spring Showdown 2024, and try to help the team earn one of two slots at the BLAST Spring Final.

The BLAST Premier: Spring Showdown 2024 is held online from March 6 to 10 and will be s1mple's first tournament playing Counter-Strike 2. With the event being only a few weeks away, only time will tell how one of the best in Counter-Strike history will announce his comeback on the server.
