G2 Takes Down Vitality To Claim Semi-Finals Spot In IEM Cologne
On the map of Inferno, a NiKo triple led G2 to a pistol round win against Vitality, sending them on a 5 round win streak. G2’s T side seemed to be pretty strong as they managed to grab the lead with m0NESY and NiKo leading the pack. A flameZ masterclass in the sixth round led to Vitality securing their first round. G2 converted multiple 4v5 rounds and finally closed out the half with a 10-5 lead. However, G2’s CT side started faltering as flameZ converted a pistol round for Vitality, which resulted in a 10-10 scoreline. After taking the game to overtime, Vitality pushed its limits and managed to win Inferno.
Moving to the second map of Vertigo, the first half was closely contested with an 8-7 scoreline in favor of G2 at the end. However, a strong performance by Hooxi saw G2 take the map with ease at 16-10. The map of Mirage saw mONESY and his AWP casually destroying Vitality’s hopes of winning the series, shutting them out 16-8. While Zywoo has been a big name in Counter-Strike, it is undeniable that m0NESY was the Most Valuable Player who stole the show today. Ending with an overall HLTV rating of 1.33, m0NESY looks to dominate the game in his upcoming matches. Vitality has dropped to the quarter-finals.
