Fans of Lara Croft have been eagerly waiting for her return in a new Tomb Raider game, and the makeover to the official Tomb Raider website is hinting that the wait will be over soon. In the recent update, Crystal Dynamics asked fans to sign up to be the first to hear "breaking news" and "releases" with the tag "Become a Tomb Raider" on the Tomb Raider website.
A New Tomb Raider Announcement May be Imminent
Last year, Colin Moriarty shared information on the upcoming iteration of the Tomb Raider Game from a voice-acting script. According to the leak, the codename for the game was Project Jawbreaker, where Lara will be leaving behind all her family dramas and struggles with loneliness. Additionally, she starts working with a team of Tomb Raiders, meaning she will be working with a group. With the tagline "Become a Tomb Raider", the Crystal Dynamic developers might hint towards the same leak stating the presence of multiple raiders in the game.
The prospect of a new Tomb Raider game with Lara Croft leading a team of raiders is undoubtedly one that raises the excitement levels within the fanbase. The Tomb Raider franchise has seen a major resurgence in the last few years on the back of a successful reboot. The focus towards open-ended gameplay with a much grittier tone seems to have been a hit with the fanbase. Crystal Dynamics may not be looking to reinvent the wheel completely in the next title for the franchise but there has to be some level of concern regarding whether the tried-and-tested core gameplay is enough to carry the franchise in an age where third-person shooters with open-ended exploration are aplenty.
