While there hasn't been an official confirmation from EA, actor Simone Baily, who worked on the 2005 Need for Speed Most Wanted, claims that a remake is on the way, scheduled for release next year. The post has since been deleted but it was enough to send the fans of the franchise into a frenzy.
Need for Speed Most Wanted (2005) is easily one of the most iconic games of its time and has long been held as the most popular NFS title of all time. The game's focus on delivering a fast and aggressive experience with its frantic police chases and general B-movie cliches made it a hit with fans instantly and it is still talked about as one of the best arcade racers ever. It will be interesting to see if EA is looking to maintain the B-movie schlockiness of the original or if some reshoots and reworks of the script might be in order.

Can Need for Speed Most Wanted Strike a Chord with Today's Generation of Racing Game Fans
NFS Most Wanted is most known for its single-player story mode where players are tasked with climbing up the Blacklist. A list of the most notorious street racers in Rockport. The only way players can climb up the list is by committing several outrageous vehicular crimes across town and leading the police on several harrowing chases throughout the day.
While EA attempted a follow-up in 2012, it didn't quite have the edge or the punch of the original and disappeared into a fog of oblivion. While we haven't heard much from EA in terms of what the direction for Need for Speed is, it appears that the future may be multi-platform, and include mobile. Need for Speed Mobile is due for release soon and it will be interesting to see how EA chooses to handle the mobile side of things.
