Developed and published by Pune-based indie studio, Nodding Heads Games, Raji: An Ancient Epic came out in 2020 to a very positive audience reception, leading the developers to work more on their small title. Fast forward to this year, Raji is coming to PS5 alongside PS+ on April 16, 2024.
The developers have promised a variety of visuals and technical upgrades for Raji: An Ancient Epic, including raytracing, a platinum trophy, haptic feedback, a lightbar, adaptive triggers, and a massive graphical enhancement.

Raji: An Ancient Epic is Coming to PS5 and PS+ This Week
Raji: An Ancient Epic is an extremely unique take on a video game setting as the title lets one assume the role of a young girl named Raji, who has been chosen by the gods to stand against the demonic invasion. The gods, monsters, and settings are based on Hindu mythology, a setting that very few games have previously attempted.
The title also has a subplot about Raji's brother, where the protagonist has to save the youngling and face the demon lord 'Mahabalasura.' While the title initially attracted a small audience on release, gamers were quick to notice Raji's unique art direction and visuals, which were inspired by many cel-shade titles in the industry. Gamers also praised the combat as it features a variety of combos to give players an edge during a fight. Critics also appreciated the soundtrack, as most of them stated that it was 'done right.'
As the title approaches the PlayStation 5 console, gamers are expecting a huge upgrade in the visuals and mechanics, as also stated in the official tweet by Nodding Heads Games. The developers have also mentioned that gamers who own the title on PlayStation 4 will receive a free PS5 upgrade if they own the console.
Will Raji: An Ancient Epic Get a Sequel?
Last year, Nodding Head Games stated that the development team was on a break. However, the tweet also mentioned that they had plans for a future entry for the game, as they stated:
"It's time to move on to greener pastures, but the adventure is far from over, some would say this is just the beginning......."
Raji's arrival on the mobile was also met with positive reception, as the title is also available on Netflix. With the title arriving on PlayStation 5 and PS+, gamers can experience an upgraded version of the title in the current-gen hardware.
