Call Of Duty, both as a game and esports title, has seen massive growth throughout the years. Much like the sport itself, there are some players who have established themselves as pillars of the community and play a crucial role in the success of the game worldwide.
Dylan “Envoy” Hannon, who had been a part of the LA Thieves roster in the Call of Duty League for almost two years, will not be making his comeback to the organization any time soon. The former World Champion announced his decision on July 12, 2023.

Former CDL World Champion Envoy Will Not Be Returning To LA Thieves
The announcement was made through an one-minute Twitter video on the LA Thieves official Twitter account. In the video, Hannon cited that with the way things turned out for him, ending the two-year run in the organization was an inevitable move. Envoy claimed:
“Basically, we have to do what’s in our best interest as players and my best interest is to join another team, which I think can be contenders for championships”
During his tenure in Thieves, Hannon lifted trophies at Major Four and CDL Championship 2022. The squad bagged second place at both the 2022 CDL Pro-Am Classic and this year’s Major Two. The 2023 CDL season did not look favorable for Thieves as they ended their run with only a Top 8 finish at CoD Champs in June where they lost to Seattle Church in the first round of the elimination bracket.
With such a major update from LA Thieves, the roster shuffles have begun. The Thieves will have to brace themselves for the void that Envoy has left behind. Hannon’s update followed his former teammate, Sam “Octane” Larew’s retirement from competitive CoD esports. While reports say that Toronto Ultra will be the former World Champion’s new home, fans can expect bigger twists and turns for the upcoming CDL season.
